Climate change is a powerful multiplier of risks. It aggravates all dimensions of human security and destabilizes social cohesion, economic development, food security, and the human right to a clean, healthy and sustainable environment. The relationship between climate change and conflict is complex and context-specific, yet in many parts of the world, it is already evident as a perfect storm of hunger, forced displacement, and economic inequality which in turn fuels conditions for chronic fragility and conflict. This undermines the perspectives for human security for generations to come.
